Oops, so “Noted News Today” is an “almost daily” column it would appear, and I don’t think I’ll be blogging it during the weekends either. Who knows. Anyhow, here’s what caught my attention yesterday, which I don’t want to go unnoticed.

China steps up diplomacy with N. Korea

China, North Korea’s only remaining “friend” in the world could not but have agreed with the UN resolution which called for sanctions against Pyongyang after it reportedly conducted nuclear tests. However China remains the world’s little hope there is for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis, since they have long ties with North Korea which the latter is seemingly disregarding lately.

Microsoft to release new IE Web browser

Microsoft has announced the imminent release of IE7, the new version of their popular Internet Explorer web browser. Deemed a Firefox look-alike by many, the new version of IE will offer immediate search features and tabbed browsing much like what competitors like Firefox and Opera have been doing for a long time now. It is doubtful whether it will make Firefox users change camps, but it is recommended that users of previous IE versions update to this latest one.

Experts create invisibility cloak

An invisibility cloak may not be as magic as Harry Potter suggests after all. Researchers at North Carolina’s Duke University have come up with the technology for it, and it now is all about implementing and putting it to practical use. I for once can think of many practical uses for it, and I’m sure you can as well.

UK ‘number one al-Qaeda target’

The BBC’s home affairs correspondent Margaret Gilmore is suggesting the UK is a prospective number one target for cells belonging to terrorist group al-Qaeda. And then she and other BBC correspondents go on to demonstrate how these cells are formed within the UK, and how they operate. A very informative article.
