Half my friends and colleagues use Yahoo! Messenger and the other half use MSN. Sure there are a few still using ICQ as well. So if I wanted to communicate with everyone I had to be running 3 different instant messaging clients. Of course there have been all-in-one solutions I tried, but they tend to leave out a lot of the individual messenger functionality.

My personal favorite for some time has been Yahoo! messenger. So now, I hear that in a revolutionary agreement, Yahoo! and Microsoft have decided to unify their messaging networks. Imagine that! Using one client only (MSN or Yahoo!) to keep you contacts from both networks and communicate with everyone.

This was one of the little things I had been secretly wishing for when there were no people around. Now, all that is left is for world domination to be bestowed upon me… *evil laughter*

According to my sources, this all is expected to go down in the second quarter of 2006.

Actually I would disagree with you. Trillian (google it) has all the functionality including video meetings. I have all three you mention plus AIM. Works fine for me. Try it.

Thanks for the tip Phil! Actually I had tried Trillian ages ago, and wasn’t happy with it. I now see though that many changes and nice improvements have taken place since!

Trillian is definitely worth a try.
