New lower “g” Google favicon… what were they thinking?

Google went right ahead and changed their favicon from the familiar, blue, upper case “G”, to a lower case, lighter blue “g” with a grey-transparent gradient background…
WHY!?

I recently discovered Nomao. A brilliant service, described by its makers as “The web 2.0 recommendation service of places and events”. A cool way of pointing out your favorite spots on the map, recommending places and events.

News of Microsoft’s unsolicited offer to buy Internet legend Yahoo at $44.6bn, caught me by surprise. I never though of Yahoo as something you can “buy”. Yes, it is a company, so certainly there must be someone out there with the cash to buy it.
