Dan Brown’s book “The Da Vinci Code” has to be one of the most widely read and discussed about books over the past few years since its publication. Now, the movie is opening soon, starring Tom Hanks (Robert Langdon) and Audrey Tautou (Sophie Neveu).

When I first read the book, I really liked it. OK, it may not be a great literary masterpiece according to the critics, but I hardly ever pay attention to what …they… have to say. It is a fascinating story, suitable for compulsive page turning. And there is research involved in writing such a novel, and Dan Brown did that well. Now, some people forget it is “fiction”, and are out there burning copies of the book, calling it a sacrilege etc. Come on! It is neither a history book, nor a news article on the New York Times. It is a noveeeeel, helloooooooo!

Sure, I didn’t agree with much of what is and how it is described in the book. But I don’t really have to agree with the politics in order to appreciate the story. If anyone finds a book offensive, they simply should not read it, and let those of us who want to read it, watch the movie, buy the t-shirt or whatever - do so.

Anyhow, back to the movie. Have you watched the trailers?! I was out at a cafe with my good friend Ran the other day, and thanks to broadband wi-fi on her laptop, and the official website I got a good idea of how it’ll be like. And I was amazed! Scenes from the book illustrated in a motion picture exactly as I imagined them while reading it. And then I discussed this with other friends and they told me the exact same thing. OK, Mr Brown is very good in his descriptions, but director Ron Howard seems to have done a fantastic job in transcribing the story on film! From what I’ve seen so far anyhow.
