The pictures show how the Firefox logo resembles the star V838 Monocerotis in the Monoceros (Greek for Unicorn) constellation, which is 20,000 light years away from our very own Sun. Prominent figures in conspiracy theory circles now evaluate V838 as a possible home of whatever intelligent beings brought “Firefox” to our own planet.

And there is at least one mad scientist who thinks the current lead developers in the Mozilla Firefox team are actually aliens descended from those first visitors. Reliable sources who cannot be named due to psychiatrist-patient confidentiality are however claiming there is no threat to planet Earth. In reality, the “Firefox people/aliens” are on the world’s side, protecting us from world domination by their evil rival, a piece of software which backed by an evil alien warlord clan has found it’s way into every computer and is near impossible to get rid of.

There is at least one recently documented visit of a U.F.O. from Firefox’s constellation. Where else could it have been from? Look at the crop circle below… That is a satellite image, directly from Google Maps. Does that look familiar?

Paris thought she’d be there talking about her new fragrance, upcoming movie and clothing line, while David Letterman only wanted to talk about her jail experience – and kept asking all kinds of uncomfortable questions. Imagine my excitement when I came across Pownce. A new micro-blogging, social networking type of site that promises a lot more than the competition and far as I can tell – it delivers as much.

The produce of the labor of four dedicated individuals, one of whom happens to be web-pioneer and Digg founder Kevin Rose, Pownce allows users to exchange notes, messages, pictures, links and files. The privacy controls allow how much of what you publish is made public. You can send staff to just one person off your friend’s list, a select few or everyone on it. I guess it depends on how big the space will be where you plan to throw your next parteeeeyy!

There is also a “pro” version of the service, which offers more features, but personally I am quite content with what I can get for free. Well done to Megatechtronium (how did they come up with this name for a company – I don’t know) for the brilliant work they’re doing, and from the looks of it Pownce will just keep growing in features and goodies for everyone, users and developers alike. The purpose of this is to raise awareness on the issues older people face today, and help raise money for age concern charity.

As a generation Y representative, I feel we owe at least as much as listening to the people who raised our parents and us. The same people who fought wars in our name, struggled to put food on our tables, educated us in schools and universities, and cared enough to see us lead a happy life.

Unfortunately a lot of older people have been pushed to the margin of today’s society, but they do have a voice and now that they’ve raised it it’s time we pay attention.
